We Are Recruiting For Two Employer Rep's For Our Committee

The Committee is looking for two Employer Rep's to help ensure, members' benefits are secure, paid on time and paid to the right people.

Are you looking for an opportunity to shape the delivery of pensions services for Wiltshire Pension Fund? 

On the Committee sit another eight members, five of which are Wiltshire Council councillors, two Swindon Borough Council councillors and one from a community admission body. 

Do you have the experience and enthusiasm to be part of the Pension Fund's oversight function? 

The Committee provides strategic oversight of the Fund, ensuring it is managed in line with regulations and in the best interests of members and employers. 

An Employer representatives play an important part in the governance and administration of the Fund in ensuring that it is well managed by asking questions, offering suggestions, and representing the views of scheme members in its governance and administration.

Main areas of activity:

  • Investment Strategy and Monitoring 
  • Funding Strategy approval 
  • To monitor Investment and Fund performance
  • Financial oversight 
  • Policy making and Admissions 
  • Representation and Accountability 
  • Engagement with LGPS Regulations and consultations

There are no specific qualifications or skills that would be deemed necessary for an employer representative as training will be given to assist in carrying out the responsibilities successfully.

Desired attributes:

  • Be available to attend between 4 and 5 day time committee meetings per annum at County Hall, Trowbridge or other equivalent venue (normally lasting 3-4 hours) 
  • Be able and willing to undertake relevant training (internal & external) from time to time   
  • Have good verbal and written communication skills 
  • Have a professional approach with good interpersonal skills and an appropriate balance of assertiveness and diplomacy 
  • Show a willingness to represent not just their own organisation, but also organisations of a similar type who are employers within the Fund 

There is no remuneration for this role, as the successful applicant will attend to represent their own and similar organisations, but travel expenses can be claimed, and all training expenses will be chargeable to the Pension Fund. The post will be held for a period of 4 years after which applications will again be sought.
