#LGPSjobs

A new campaign from Boarder to Coast Pensions Partnership to promote career opportunities in the LGPS, one of UK's largest pension schemes.

We were thrilled to be a part of this video, highlighting the fantastic career opportunities available within the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) where you can build a rewarding and lasting career - take a look at this new video that brings to life what it's like to work in the LGPS!

The the LGPS is one of the largest pension schemes in the UK and globally, with around 300 job vacancies each year. This campaign aims to help all 86 pension funds across England and Wales with recruitment, supported by the Scheme Advisory Board  and the local government pensions team at the LGA.

As part of our support for LGPS funds, we are looking at more ways to help them recruit and retain the talented staff they need, including those with skills in investing, administration, communications and customer support. The aim of the video and encouraging use of #LGPSjobs is to build awareness of the opportunities across the entire LGPS and to help potential recruits, both within and outside the LGPS, search for vacancies.

Moving forward from May 2024, all LGPS vacancies notified to the LGA will be listed on a new jobs page, creating a one stop shop for LGPS vacancies.

The new video was shot in Barnsley, South Yorkshire, Trowbridge in Wiltshire, and Strensham near Worcester. It brings to life the variety of roles in the LGPS and tells the stories of two of its members - Debbie, a librarian, and Eddy, a flood risk manager. Both are approaching the end of their careers after fulfilling roles working in local government and can look forward to financial security in retirement thanks to the LGPS.

The film also features Cllr Roger Phillips, Chair of the LGPS Advisory Board, and Jennifer Devine, Head of Wiltshire Pension Fund, along with members of her team.

Working in the LGPS is extremely rewarding, you're contributing to the well-being and financial security of public sector workers. It's a stable organisation with long-term horizons so you can build a lasting career, with opportunities in a range of areas where you can deliver both meaning and impact.

Cllr Phillips was filmed at Strensham solar farm in Worcestershire, one of the ten assets owned by NextPower UK ESG (a NextEnergy Capital institutional fund), in which the LGPS invests. The c.£45m facility generates energy sufficient to power over ten thousand UK homes each year.

As one of the largest pension funds in the world, the LGPS is playing a crucial role in advancing sustainability and supporting renewable projects. The LGPS is actively contributing to the UK's net zero goals and, through its investments and stewardship, is encouraging decarbonisation for a greener future.
