We are delighted to be offering the role of Chair for our Local Pension Board. This role is ideal for an enthusiastic, experienced leader who can help guide our Pension Board to fulfil its governance responsibilities effectively.
As the Board Chair, you'll play an important part in overseeing the governance and administration of the Wiltshire Pension Fund (the Fund) in line with the Public Service Pension Scheme Act 2013 (PSPA13), LGPS legislation, and the Pension Regulator's Code of Practice. Your leadership will support scheme members and employers, enhancing the management of the Fund to benefit all stakeholders.
This role offers a rewarding opportunity to make a lasting impact on the governance of the Wiltshire Pension Fund!
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan the annual board meeting cycle and set agendas.
- Chair and facilitate board meetings, ensuring diverse input and reaching consensus.
- Monitor the implementation of board recommendations.
- Liaise with the Director of Finance & Procurement for Fund oversight and support.
- Review and evaluate the board's performance.
- Ensure all board reporting requirements are met.
- Balance the interests of employers and scheme members effectively
What We Are Looking For:
- Strong leadership skills with experience chairing meetings effectively.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with confidence in public speaking.
- Integrity, strategic vision, and sound independent judgment.
- Ability to collaborate and engage tactfully with a variety of stakeholders.
- Commitment to dedicating time and effort to the role.
- Understanding of the legal responsibilities of a pension board member
The successful candidate should ideally have previous experience of LGPS administration and governance at Board level, although we welcome nominations from candidates who have equivalent experience in a non LGPS environment.
It should be noted that completion of tPR certificate will not be a pre-condition of appointment, however it will be expected on appointment.
Please also note that the successful candidate will join us for their first board meeting on 11th February 2025, where they will be introduced to the board and receive a handover from the current Chair.
