Helping our local community this Christmas

As well as through our investments, we also aim to create a positive impact on the local community through our operations.

To celebrate our ten-year investment partnership with Ninety One, our emerging markets manager, we wanted to give something back to our local community. Partnering with Storehouse, a charity based in Trowbridge we were able to do something a little different whilst helping those in the local area benefit... Through a Supermarket Sweep!

Storehouse Foodbank is a project that aims to support families, couples, and individuals in short-term need of food and toiletries. Based in Trowbridge, this service began in 2006 in response to a growing need within the community. They help feed up to 250 families every single week, so it's an essential part of our local community. It's also a community hub, providing showers, a community café and even a free haircut for those in need.

Store house gave us a list of in-demand supplies, including all the produce needed to enable families to make a full Christmas dinner, with Ninety One offering to pay for these up to a value of a fantastic £2,000!

Splitting into three teams, Ninety One, Storehouse and Wiltshire Pension Fund we grabbed our lists, checked them twice, and raced around ASDA to find veggies and rice! We competed in teams of 3, racing to see who could fill out the Storehouse's Christmas shopping list first. In total, we collected 13 large trolleys of food, worth over £2000. The items we collected included fresh vegetables, Christmas crackers and tins of soup.

Congratulations to Storehouse for being the quickest team to reach the tills, with Wiltshire Pension Fund in close second, and Ninety One taking their time in third.

We had a great time today! It's good to see that our experience in organising food trolleys came in handy! Our visitors will be really happy to see the stock we have for them this week and in the run-up to Christmas. Thanks to everyone from Wiltshire Pension Fund and Ninety One for arranging this.

Thank you again to NinetyOne for making this possible and donating £2,000 to Storehouse!

Today was a fantastic way to celebrate our ten-year partnership with Wiltshire Pension Fund. We've achieved some excellent results for the fund in that time, so we wanted to mark this milestone by giving something back. Although we weren't the fastest shoppers, we loved the event! We're proud to be helping such an essential charity. We certainly recommend donating or volunteering if you can!

As a Fund we are passionate about local impact as seen in our Affordable Housing Impact Report, this event gave us the opportunity to take this even further and help Storehouse provide much needed food and essentials to local residents in Trowbridge.

If you want to donate, volunteer or stay up to date with the amazing work Storehouse does, you can find out more by visiting their website or getting involved with their All Wrapped Up Campaign
